Durant Amusements is Canal Days host ride provider. They will offer wristband promotions on Friday evenings and and Sunday afternoon to accomodate families of all sizes. Check out the schedule of events for cost and times.
COSI on WHEELS
COSI of Columbus will be present again at this years Canal Days to engage children in the wonders of science. Participants will have the opportunity to play, explore, discover and learn about science through COSI’s all-new Science Spot traveling exhibition. These activities consists of durable, colorful hands-on kiosks that are suitable for “budding scientists” ages 5 and up.
This event will be held on Saturday of Canal Days from noon to 4 PM in front of the Post Office surrounded by many other children’s activities. The Jr. Optimist assists the kids to get the full objective of each exhibit. Bring the kids and check out these “scientific” kiosks: Force & Motion, Gadgets & Gizmos, Structures and Amazing Magnets and let their minds explore.
FISHING DERBY
The Canal Days FISHING DERBY is Saturday from 8:00 – 10:00 AM. It will be held in the Miami Erie Canal behind the Post Office. The fishing derby is opened to all boys and girls, ages 0 – 13 years old. Prizes will be awarded to a boy and girl for each of these categories:
BIGGEST FISH, 2nd Biggest Fish, 3rd Biggest Fish, 4th Biggest Fish, Most Fish and Smallest Fish caught. No pre registration is required.
KIDDIE TRACTOR PULL
The Delphos Young Farmers sponsor and put on the Kiddy Tractor Pull each year. The pull will be held on Saturday starting at 1:00. Registration will start at 12 and this event is located on Second Street between the Post Office and AFLAC Regional Office.
There are four divisions for the tractor pull. They are: 4 years and under, 5 year olds, 6 & 7 year olds and 8 & 9 year olds. Awards are given in each division.
PET PARADE
Bring your special pet to the Canal Days pet parade on Saturday beginning at 11:00 AM. Vonderwell Kennels sponsors this huge event for the kids and it is held on Second Street and Main. Awards are given for Best of Show, Best Dog Division, Best Cat Division, Best Costume, Best Other and new this year will be Best Pet Trick. The Allen County Humane Society will be there to help judge and award prizes.
PUTT PUTT GOLF
Stop and play Putt Putt Golf while you’re at this years Canal Days celebration. The Future Farmers of America sponsor this kid’s activity for the whole weekend. They will be renting golf clubs on Friday 4 -11, Saturday 9 – 11, and Sunday 10 – 6 to putt a quick round of golf.
SIDEWALK CHALK ART
The 10th Annual Chalk Art Competition will take place on Saturday from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM. Pre-registration is required and there are 3 divisions. They are Mini Division: 7 years or younger, Junior Division: 8 – 12 years old and Senior Division: 13 – 18 years of age. Forms are available at the Delphos Area Chamber of Commerce and rules and regulations are posted on the back.
All registered teams will meet at 8:40 AM in front of First Financial Bank to be assigned a sidewalk area. All participants will receive an award and special awards will be give to the top placers in each division.
SMALL ANIMAL FARM
The Delphos FFA also sponsor a small animal farm for the kids on Saturday morning. After a quick round of golf stop over and check out the farm animals located right beside the Post Office. You can see and pet the cute little cows, sheep, rabbits, etc. The farm animals will be on display from 10 – 3, Sept. 19
TWO K RUN
This year there will be a 2 K Run/Walk for the kids to participate in. On Sunday morning of Canal Days come to the kids ten before 9:00 AM and sign up for run.
