When the Commercial Bank was chartered as a State bank in 1877, it has already occupied its Third and Main location for some years. In 1912 the bank undertook to design and build a new headquarters. Using as a model a neighbor of Macy’s in New York City, the new structure of maroon brick and sandstone trim was built under the direction of Joseph Jettinghoff and completed for a 1913 Grand Opening. Until the mid-1960’s the building was the main office of the Commercial Bank and housed law offices, dental services and fraternal clubs. Today, the Commercial Building is the headquarters of the Delphos Canal Commission, with both commercial and museum areas.

The First Christian Church was first started in 1912. The members later bought a church building located at 468 S. Franklin Street. The members stayed at that location until they bought the house next door at 470 S. Franklin Street in 1965. They tore down the house and built the now existing church building.

The Firetruck Museum was constructed in 1973 by the Delphos Jaycees to house Delphos’ 1929 Boyer Pumper that is mounted on a Graham Chassis. The total construction cost of the mueseum was $2,300.00 and most of the funds came through donations.

The first meetings of the First Presbyterian Church were held in a building facing the canal just south of the Third Street bridge; 11 members attended. The first church building was erected at Third & Cass Streets on a site donated by Father John Otto Bredeick. The present church, at the corner of West Second and Jefferson, was dedicated on November 29, 1908.

The Board of Trustees of Delphos awarded the contract to construct the standpipe to the Chicago Bridge and Iron Company, Chicago, Illinois. On May 10, 1897 the standpipe and the whole water system was accepted for use and began accepting customers. The standpipe continues to serve the City of Delphos.

The current Delphos Post Office is the sixth post office building for the community of Delphos, Ohio. It was erected at a cost of $55,504 with Postmaster Ed E. Truesdales leading dedication ceremonies on November 12, 1933. On November 11, 1995 the museum of poastal history opened in the lower level by Postmaster Gary S. Levitt.
