BATTLE OF THE BUSINESSES | Download Registration Form

Plan your strategy and get the most coordinated employees you have together for Canal Days Battle of the Businesses. Send in your pre-registration form before August 24th to receive team t-shirts and be included in the fun-time battle games. Teams must be at least 18 years of age, 4 – 6 team members, 2 men and 2 women when competing in the games. The Battle will begin at 6:00 sharp next to the Social Tent on Main Street.

Participates must be ready for messy, farfetched games of luck not skill during this hour and 1/2 long event on Friday night of Canal Days. Practice being graceful and sharpen up your dexterity skills for this fun event. You may just walk away with the BIG trophy. Last year’s winning team was Beauty Unlimited/Topp Chalet.

CAR CLUB CRUISE-IN

The Black Swamp Mustang Club will host the Canal Days Cruise-In on Saturday from 5 – 8 PM located on the corner of Second and Canal. Check out the beautiful array of cars but be sure to make the rounds through the food vendors and fill up on that fantastic fair food. Stay around after the cruise in awards presentation for free entertainment under the social tent.

CHEERLEADING COMPETITION | Download Forms

The Cheerleading Competition has been part of Canal Days for 18 years and this year’s event is expected to be bigger and better than ever. The competition will be held on Sunday, September 16th, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Delphos St. John’s Robert Arnzen Gymnasium, 515 E. Second Street.

Competition squads from the tri-county area will be striving for that first place position and cash prizes. First, second and third place winners will receive awards with the 1st place teams also receiving t-shirts. It is open to any Jr. High, Freshman, JV or Varsity squads. Come early to get a seat and cheer on your favorite team.

CORN HOLE TOURNAMENT

The Corn Hole Game has become very popular in the past couple of years. 2007 was the first year Canal Days incorporated the tournament in the scheduled of events and it has grown from 10 teams to 30 or more. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top place finishers.

This year’s Tournament will be held Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at 1:00 a.m. located on the north side of the social tent. Registration for the tournament starts at 12 noon. It’s open for any 2 person teams and the cost is $30 a team.

It’s all about country when it comes to Canal Days specialty bingo on Saturday afternoon. “Country Basket Bingo” will take the place of purse bingo under the social tent on September 15th from 2 – 4 PM. Advanced tickets are $30 each and include a raffle drawing for an Opryland Weekend Package for 2.

Twenty picnic baskets will be loaded with prizes waiting for someone to take them home. Each player receives 20 bingo cards for 20 games and one raffle ticket for the Nashville weekend giveaway. Once a player yells BINGO that lucky winner will pick a basket of their choice, contents sight unseen and the prize inside will be announced. Be sure to get your tickets for this fun-filled afternoon event at the chamber office before they run out and for a complete list of prizes check out the attached flyer. Come and play B I N G O!

Are you an avid runner? If so check out the 11th annual 5K Run that will take place on Sunday, September 16, 2012. Registration starts at 8:30 AM on the corner of Second and Main Streets. The Race will begin in front of WDOH at 10a.m. sharp, with the route the same as last year: heading west on Second Street, then north on State Street, to North Street, with a turnaround and then back again the same way.

Pre-register by September 7th, will guarantee you a Canal Days T-shirt. Entry fee is $20 with a shirt, $15 with no shirt and $20 the day of the race.
Canal Days mugs will be awarded to the top male and female finishers. Awards will also be given to two (2) places each category: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-25, 26-30, 31-35, 36-40, 41-45, 46-50, 51-55, 56 – 60, 61 & older.

The grand parade on Sunday afternoon use to be the big finale for the Canal Days weekend. It still is the best parade around. Starting at 2:00 PM, the Delphos Fire Department handles the line up and blocks off the parade route for Sundays event. If you’ve ever thought about being apart of something big then enter this year’s Canal Days parade. The 12 block route sometime takes 2 hours to complete. If you’re not into decorating a float then just set back and enjoy all the creative entries. Remember to park your lawn chairs on Second Street early so you get a good seat. Space fills up fast.

TRACTOR SHOW

Calling all farmers! If you have a tractor and aren’t in the field during Canal Days, bring your tractor it to the Canal Days Tractor Show on the canal parking lot behind the Main Street businesses. Over $1000 worth of awards sponsored by Pitsenbarger Supply will be given away. Tractors start coming in to park at 9 AM but the show and judging begins at 1:00. Stick around for the cash prizes at 4 PM. Even tractors look nice when they are cleaned up for this show.

Canal Days 6th annual Toast to the City is Thursday, September 13, 2012. This open-to-the-public event is going country with the theme “Little Town, BIG Country”. Cost for the Toast is $30 per person or $250 for a table of 8. Reservations can be made by contacting the Delphos Chamber of Commerce before September1st.

The Toast will host a variety of local cuisine, wine and specialty beers. Registration for the Toast will begin at 5PM and the program starts at 6. Entertainment for the evening will begin at 7 PM with Delphos’ own local country band the “SIX STRINGS”. Mark Wurst, Jenna Wurst and Tom McKee will play their hearts out for the country loving people of Delphos until 9 PM. Wear your boots and kick up your heals at this year’s Toast to the City.

The Water Ball Contest is growing in popularity and the Delphos Fire Association is rounding up 5 person teams for a “splash” of a good time during this event. The contest will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 12:30 PM in front of the fire station. Entry fee for a team is $50 and must be paid at the time of registration. Cash will be paid to the 1st and 2nd place team

Turn in your forms at the Delphos Chamber of Commerce by September 1st to participate in the only water sport during Canal Days and be ready to get wet.
