BATTLE OF THE BUSINEESES (Registration Form)
Plan your strategy and get your most coordinated employees together for this years Battle of the Businesses. Send in your pre-registration form before August 29th to receive team t-shirts and be included in the battle. Teams must be at least 18 years of age, 4 – 6 team members, 2 men and 2 women to compete. The Battle will begin at 6:00 sharp.
Teams must be ready for messy, farfetched games of luck not skill during this 2 hour event on Friday night of Canal Days. Practice being graceful and sharpen up your coordination skills for this fun event You may just walk away with the BIG traveling trophy.
CAR CLUB CRUISE-IN (Flyer )
The Delphos Area Car Club host a special awards Cruise-In on Saturday night starting at 6:30 PM. Awards are given away at 8:30 sharp so make sure if you cruise in you do the rounds and check out all that Canal Days has to offer. Stay around for the entertainment under the social tent. We’ll be jamming to the music until midnight.
CHEERLEADING COMPETITION (Registration Form)
The Cheerleading Competition has been part of Canal Days for a long time. This year’s event will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Delphos Jefferson Middle School Auditorium.
Again this year there will be NO ENTRY FEES for squads participating in the competition. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive CASH PRIZES with the 1st place teams receiving t-shirts. It is open to any Jr. High, Freshman, Jr. Varsity or Varsity squads. Come and check out your favorite team.
CORN HOLE TOURNAMENT
The Corn Hole Game has become very popular in the past couple of years. 2007 was the first year for this tournament during Canal Days used a 30 team bracket. More teams are expected to join in the competition and the winner takes home $500 cold hard cash.
The Tournament will be held Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008 at 1:00 pm located on the north side of the social tent. Registration for the tournament starts at 12 noon. 2 person teams and the cost is $20 a team.
FIVE K RUN (Registration Form)
Are you an avid runner? If so check out the 7th annual 5K Run that will take place September 21, 2008. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. in the tent on the corner of Second and Main Streets. The Race will begin in front of WDOH at 10a.m. sharp, with the route the same as last year: heading west on Second Street, then north on State Street, to North Street, with a turnaround and then back again the same way.
Canal Days mugs will be awarded to the top male and female finishers. Awards will also be given to two (2) or 20% in each category: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 59, 60-64, 65 & older
KARAOKE CONTEST (Participation Agreement)
Last years Karaoke contest brought out record crowds for Sunday afternoon finals. 12 contestants vied for the $750 prize money and Mark Wurst of Delphos took home the bacon. This year’s tryouts are as scheduled:

July 4th - 7:00 pm Stadium Park
July 29 - 7:00 pm Johnny A’s
August 6 - 7:00 pm Delphos Recreation Center

PARADE (Entry Form)
The grand parade on Sunday afternoon use to be the big finale for the Canal Days weekend. It still is the best parade around. Starting at 2:00p.m., the Delphos Fire Department handles the line up and blocks off the parade route for Sundays event. If you’ve ever thought about being apart of something big then enter this year’s Canal Days parade. The 12 block route takes around 2 hours to complete. If your not into decorating a float then just set back and enjoy all the creative participating entries. Remember to park your lawn chairs on Second Street early so you get a good seat. Space fills up fast.
TRACTOR SHOW (Download Flyer)
Calling all farmers! If you have a tractor and aren’t in the field during Canal Days, you’ve got to bring it up to the Tractor Show on the canal parking lot behind the Main Street businesses. Over $1000 worth of awards will be given away. Check out the attached flyer for the categories you can enter. Starts at 1:00 and awards given away at 4:30.
THE TOAST (Download Flyer)
“JAZZ IT UP” is this year’s theme for THE TOAST to the city. Every city has a toast to the city but none of them have as much fun as we have at “our” TOAST. And this year will be more exciting then ever.
The Toast starts at 5:30 with cocktails and hors d’ourvers. Delphos restaurants will help cater the event again this year with their “Taste” of the city. The program will consist of a Mayoral speech, Canal Days TOAST, history from past businesses owners; an historical tour that you’ve all been waiting for and some nice relaxing JAZZ music. Come early and enjoy a night out during this years TOAST. Invitations will be sent to all Delphos Area Chamber Members. The public is also welcome.
